Email Setup

Setting up your Hostigo email account lets you send and receive emails using your domain (for example, you@yourdomain.co.za). This guide explains how to configure your email on various devices and apps.

1. Create Your Email Account

First, log in to your Client Portal at https://hostigo.co.za/billing/login, go to your hosting service, and open cPanel. In cPanel, click Email Accounts to create a new email address and password for your domain.

2. Choose Incoming Protocol (IMAP or POP3)

When setting up your email client, you’ll be asked to choose a protocol:

  • IMAP – keeps emails on the server and synchronises across all your devices.
  • POP3 – downloads emails to one device and can remove them from the server (less common today).

IMAP is recommended if you use multiple devices (phone, computer, tablet).

3. Enter Mail Server Details

When configuring your email app (Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail, etc.), use the following settings:

  • Incoming server (IMAP/POP3): mail.yourdomain.co.za
  • Outgoing server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.co.za

Replace “yourdomain.co.za” with your actual domain. Use your full email address and password to authenticate.

4. Secure Your Email (SSL/TLS)

Choose SSL/TLS encryption if your mail app supports it — this keeps your emails and password secure during transfer. Many email clients automatically detect these settings if supported.

5. Configure on Your Device

Set up your new email on your phone, tablet, or desktop using the built-in mail apps:

  • On iPhone or iPad — add a new account in Settings > Mail
  • On Android — add a new account in your native Mail app or Gmail
  • On Outlook or Thunderbird — choose IMAP and enter the server settings above

6. Webmail Access (Optional)

If you prefer not to use an email app, you can log in through webmail using your email address and password in a web browser (usually at webmail.yourdomain.co.za or via a webmail link from cPanel).
