How Spam Filters Work

Spam filters protect your inbox by blocking unwanted and dangerous emails. This guide explains how spam filtering works on your Hostigo email account.

1. What is Spam?

Spam is unwanted email such as advertisements, scams, and phishing messages. These emails can be annoying and dangerous.

2. How Spam Filters Work

Spam filters analyse incoming emails and check them against known spam databases, message patterns, and security rules to decide whether an email is safe or not.

3. What Happens to Spam

Emails that are identified as spam are moved to your spam folder instead of your inbox. This keeps your inbox clean and safe.

4. Checking Your Spam Folder

You should regularly check your spam folder in case a real email was filtered by mistake. You can mark it as “Not Spam” to improve future filtering.

5. Improving Spam Protection

Avoid publishing your email address publicly and do not click links in suspicious emails. This helps reduce spam.
