HerdSafe Terms of Service

Effective Date: 21 July 2026

Welcome to HerdSafe, a livestock and grazing management application developed and operated by Hostigo (Pty) Ltd (“Hostigo”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using HerdSafe, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use the application.

1. About HerdSafe

HerdSafe is designed to help livestock farmers manage:

• Animal records
• Weight history
• Breeding information
• Treatments and health records
• Grazing and paddock management
• Financial records
• Farm tasks
• Reports
• Secure cloud backups

The application is intended as a management tool and does not replace professional veterinary, agricultural, financial, or legal advice.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old or have the permission of a parent, guardian, or authorised business representative to use HerdSafe.

By using the application, you confirm that you have the authority to manage the livestock and information entered into the system.

3. User Accounts

Certain features require a HerdSafe account using Firebase Authentication.

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• Keeping your email address up to date.
• All activity that occurs under your account.

You must notify us immediately if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

4. Your Data

You remain the owner of all information that you enter into HerdSafe, including but not limited to:

• Animal records
• Financial records
• Weight records
• Treatment history
• Farm information
• Reports
• Grazing data
• Images
• Notes

Hostigo does not claim ownership of your farm data.

5. Cloud Backup

If you use the Cloud Backup feature:

• Your information is securely stored using Google Firebase Cloud Firestore.
• Backups are associated only with your authenticated account.
• You may restore your own backups at any time.
• You are responsible for ensuring backups are performed regularly.

While we make every reasonable effort to protect your data, no online storage service can guarantee absolute protection against every possible failure.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use HerdSafe for unlawful purposes.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
• Reverse engineer or modify the application.
• Distribute malware or harmful software.
• Interfere with the operation of the service.
• Use the application in a manner that could damage our infrastructure or other users.

7. Data Accuracy

HerdSafe relies entirely on information entered by users.

You are responsible for ensuring that:

• Animal information is accurate.
• Financial records are correct.
• Treatment information is entered correctly.
• Reports generated from your data are verified before use.

Hostigo cannot guarantee the accuracy of information entered by users.

8. Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Temporary interruptions may occur due to:

• Maintenance
• Internet connectivity
• Third-party service outages
• Software updates
• Google Firebase services
• Circumstances beyond our reasonable control

9. Updates

We may release updates to:

• Improve security
• Add new features
• Fix bugs
• Improve performance
• Maintain compatibility with Android devices

Some updates may be required for continued use of HerdSafe.

10. Intellectual Property

HerdSafe, including its:

• Name
• Logo
• Branding
• Software
• Source code
• User interface
• Documentation

is the intellectual property of Hostigo (Pty) Ltd unless otherwise stated.

You may not copy, redistribute, modify, sell, or commercially exploit the application without our prior written permission.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Hostigo shall not be liable for:

• Loss of profits
• Loss of livestock
• Loss of production
• Business interruption
• Data loss
• Financial losses
• Indirect or consequential damages

arising from the use of HerdSafe.

You use the application entirely at your own risk.

12. No Warranty

HerdSafe is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee that:

• the application will always be error-free;
• all features will always be available;
• all data will always be recoverable;
• the application will be compatible with every Android device.

13. Account Deletion

You may permanently delete your account at any time using the account deletion feature within the application.

Deleting your account will permanently remove:

• Your authentication account.
• Your cloud backup data stored in Firebase.
• Associated account information.

This action cannot be undone.

14. Privacy

Our collection and processing of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.

Please read our Privacy Policy before using HerdSafe.

15. Third-Party Services

HerdSafe relies on third-party services including:

• Google Play
• Firebase Authentication
• Google Firebase Cloud Firestore

These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

Updated versions will be published on our website and, where appropriate, within the application.

Continued use of HerdSafe after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
